FAQ

Products & Ingredients

Why is your soap fragrance-free?

Because clean doesn't need a scent. Furthermore, we dont believe that essential oils or artificial fragrance found in many consumer products have proven their worth and some may even be doing more harm than good through photosensitivity and potential endocrine disruption. We choose not to add fragrances, perfumes, or artificial scents to our soaps. Instead, we focus on quality ingredients and simple formulations. Our bars are designed for people who prefer a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to personal care. They may, however, have a mild scent of their own. Most customers describe it as subtle, clean, and not overpowering.

What makes our soap different?

We keep things simple.

Every bar is handcrafted in small batches using carefully selected ingredients such as grass-fed and finished beef tallow, organic virgin cold-pressed coconut oil, organic castor oil, organic raw unrefined African shea butter, natural clays, and activated charcoal derived from coconut. Organic stearic acid(triple pressed, cold-pressed from flax and mahua oil). Organic olive oil. Each bar will be clearly labeled with its material make up.

No artificial fragrances.
No synthetic dyes.
No unnecessary ingredients.

Why coconut oil, I hear it's drying?

It can be. However, we use what's called a high "superfat" in our 100% coconut oil bars(Not the dish soaps) which allow the final results to include un-reacted oils trapped within the bar making it more balanced and less drying. Also, those un-reacted oils that remain trapped in the finished bar are far less likely to go rancid and they will remain incredibly stable, resisting spoilage due to oxidation over time.

Why do you use beef tallow?

Tallow has been used in traditional soap making for generations. It helps create a firm, long-lasting bar with a rich, creamy lather. We use tallow sourced from grass-fed and finished cattle because we believe quality ingredients matter.

What is activated charcoal?

Activated charcoal is a finely milled powder derived from coconut shells. We use it to create the bold black color found in some of our bars and to give them their rugged appearance.

Why do you use clay in your soap?

Natural clays provide beautiful, earthy colors and contribute to the unique character of each bar.

Our soaps may contain:

  • French Green Clay

  • Mediterranean Red Clay

  • Kaolin Clay

We use these ingredients instead of artificial colorants.

Is there really lye in your soap?

Food-grade sodium hydroxide (lye) is used during the soap-making process to transform oils and fats into soap. This process is called saponification.

When properly made and cured, true soap contains no remaining sodium hydroxide.

Are your soaps vegan?

They will be listed as such under the soap description.

Some of our soaps may contain honey or grass-fed and finished beef tallow, which is an animal-derived ingredient.

Will the oils absorb into my skin?

Saponified oils in soaps made with low "superfatting" means little to none of the oils are left and are instead transformed entirely into new molecules that are generally too large to penetrate the skin's pores and are instead designed to simply lift away grime when rinsed. We are more concerned with photosensitivity and potential endocrine disruptors which is why we select the constituent oils in our soaps and avoid all fragrance oils.

Are your soaps handmade?

Yes. Our soap is handcrafted in Florida by our family-owned business in small batches. Hand-cut, and cured before it is packaged and shipped.

Is your soap safe for kids?

Our family uses the same soap we make for our customers.

Because every person is different, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list and choosing products that fit your family's preferences.

Packaging

How is your soap packaged?

Our bars are packaged using simple, functional packaging designed to protect the soap while minimizing unnecessary waste.

Why isn't your soap wrapped in plastic?

We prefer simple packaging and want customers to be able to see and enjoy the handcrafted nature of each bar.

Will my soap look exactly like the pictures?

Not necessarily.

Because our products are handcrafted, every bar is unique. Slight variations in color, shape, and appearance are normal and expected.
